What is order fulfillment?
This is how you as the business owner delivers and completes an order placed by a customer through your online shop.
Most shops will use one or both of these fulfillment types :
DELIVERY
Using a shipping method offered during checkout, your customers enters there physical delivery address details as part of the checkout process.
Delivery usually carries a fee. Delivery fees can be generated either : as a Flat Fee pre-created per region in the backend OR created as a rate via the courier API which uses the parcel size and weight plus the delivery address to create a rate.
When the order is complete and paid for, the business will then deliver the item to the customer using the manual or courier method.
Using a courier method will also mean that the customer will get auto order tracking emails from the courier system itself.
For manual shipping, the business can use Order Tracking Info tool to alert customers as to their orders status.
COLLECTION
The customer will select this option during checkout. Self-Collection option can be Free or can incur a fee.
The collection point address will be set up so that the customer is aware which collection point they choose.
When the order is complete and paid for, the business will then let the customer know via Order Tracking Info OR by email/phone that their order is ready to be collected.
